Accessibility

Good and practical accessibility facilities are at the very heart of West Acre. Originally built as our family home, we designed West Acre with particular consideration for our son who is a wheelchair user. When we decided to convert West Acre into a holiday home, we made the decision to develop this further combining practicality and comfort.

Vicki, a qualified nurse with extensive experience in continuing health care has a passion for accessible accommodation. As a family we know how hard it can be to find high quality, accessible holiday homes.

We believe that with a little thought and planning, accessibility does not need to impact on the level of comfort and luxury. Our approach is accessible luxury, so you never need to make a choice between luxury or accessibility.

Whether any of our guests are unsteady on their feet, use a wheelchair or have any other access requirements, we are there to help. We understand that no two disabilities or accessibility needs are ever the same. That’s why we encourage all guests to call us directly. We’re happy to discuss all individual needs to work our how West Acre might work for you.

We have many options we can offer, and we can often re-configure the layout of the house for your personal requirements. Our main goal is to ensure everyone has a relaxing, comfortable stay.

Our Key Accessible Facilities

  • All the ground floor areas, the access to outside and all the garden and patio areas are step free and accessible by a wheelchair.
  • Part of our kitchen worktop is at a lower level for a wheelchair user to work on.
  • We have a lift available for anyone who needs it.
  • Downstairs toilet with grab rails.
  • We have 2 dining chairs with arms on should anyone need a chair with arms.
  • Our accessible bedroom has an accessible en-suite with walk in shower (ramp available for level entry), with grab rails and a shower chair if required. The toilet has grab rails, a pull down rail and a toilet seat riser if required. There is also a grab rail on the bath to aid with getting in and out, we have a bath board if required. We have a trolly on wheels we can supply for use in the bathroom too.
  • Service dogs are welcome and we provide our ‘doggy welcome pack’. Service dogs are not charged the normal dog fee

Jeff, Vicki and Nathan go to extra lengths in order to make this an extra special place. Always super quick to respond to messages and to check before the visit that we would have everything we might need. Nothing was too much trouble – they just want you to have the best possible time. Our group of 10 adults and 3 children ranged from 88 years to 19 months so we really appreciated having so much space and all the extras that were provided – the Babies and Toddlers Package was incredibly helpful. It is a wonderful holiday house with a very homely feel. The fact that it is so accessible was great for both young and old.

Our long weekend in West Acre was fantastic from start to finish. Pre arrival contact was great ensuring the house was set up for our needs before we arrived. If you have a disabled guest, then this is the property for you. The owners have thought of everything to enhance your stay and the facilities are second to none.

Can’t recommend this property enough

Thank you to Jeff, Vicky and family as they went above and beyond in making our stay memorable. We were a party of 15 ranging from 3 yrs to 85, and the house catered for all our needs. The welcome and the chocolate cake was a lovely surprise. Loved the extensive gardens where we enjoyed a game of cricket, table tennis, BBQ and the kids enjoyed the play area as well as the basketball hoop. Not only did it have a hot tub, but also a sauna which we enjoyed as well as movie nights in the cinema room.

Amazing week at West Acre

What an amazing stay. West Acre is a fantastic property and suited our needs perfectly. We were celebrating my mam’s 80th birthday and our group was a mix of ages ranging from 12 to 90. When we were booking, I was looking for a property which would be good for a multi-generational get together and this was certainly it!! The service provided by Jeff, Vicki and Nathan was exceptional with pre visit calls to ensure we had everything we needed, and they were on hand for anything during our stay, even decorating the house for Halloween!!
